Virgin Galactic Supersonic Jet aims to Resurrect Commercial Supersonic Travel!

Virgin Atlantic has unveiled a rendering of its proposed Mach 3 supersonic jet.  The virgin galactic supersonic jet could carry between nine and nineteen passengers and reach Mach 3, or three times the speed of sound.  The company has partnered with NASA for its extensive experience in supersonic aircraft to develop the airframe for the aircraft that will get people from one point on the earth to another faster than any conventional aircraft.  In addition, Virgin has also partnered with Rolls-Royce, the legendary jet engine manufacturer to develop the propulsion need for the proposed supersonic jet.  The company has yet to release much about the proposed aircraft except that it will travel at 60,000 feet and will utilize state-of-the-art sustainable aviation fuel and materials.  However, many questions remain of the feasibility of building an expensive supersonic aircraft to carry only nineteen persons, the cost of the project and when and where we can expect to see one of these jets take to the skies.
