This is the magnetic levitating desk lamp that blows your mind with its detached shade that floats in mid-air above the base. Sure to captivate the imagination, the disconcerting desk lamp creates a logic defying gap between the base and the shade using the principle of magnetic levitation. A magnet built into the lampshade is repelled by electromagnetic coils in the base of the lamp, a powerful opposing force that causes the shade to levitate. The coils are computerized and make 1000 adjustments per second to keep the shade upright even if the lamp is bumped or turned over. The swirling pattern on the shade accentuates a natural spinning hypnotic motion caused by air currents. The lamp uses nine bright white LED bulbs; six that shine upwards into the shade and three that shine downwards to provide accent lighting for the brushed chrome stand all controlled with a tap on the underside of the base. Plugs into any AC outlet and measures 16 ½” Height x 7 ½” Diameter and weighs 5 Pounds.
